SERVICESINTEGRATED PHYSICAL THERAPIES & MASSAGE
Physiotherapists are recognised experts at diagnosing and treating all soft tissue and sports injuries. They are utilised extensively by professional football, cricket, soccer, basketball and Olympic teams. Mark has a further qualification (Graduate Diploma of Exercise for Rehabilitation) in prescribing specific exercises. This will allow you to continue to treat your own injury , minimise continuing treatment and show you how you can strengthen that part of the body so that your injury doesn't continue to trouble you. Other Physiotherapy modalities such as Ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation or laser therapy may also be used with manual techniques to achieve an optimal outcome. In severe cases Acupuncture may be used with Physiotherapy for an effective outcome.
As well as being a Physiotherapist, Mark is also a qualified Manipulative Therapist. This requires two additional years of University postgraduate study in additional assessment and treatment techniques to those taught to Physiotherapists. Manipulative therapy is a specialised form of manual therapy encompassing mobilisation manipulation & adjustment techniques. These techniques are taught to and safely employed by registered Manipulative Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Osteopaths.
It is important to treat the cause of the pain as well as the injury itself. In order to achieve an optimal result with treatment, Ergonomics issues often need to be addressed. This includes work and task methods as well as work positions. Mark qualified as a Consulting Ergonomist in 1988. He has worked in industry since 1984 and continues to do so. Professional ergonomics advice is usually given in conjunction with your treatment.
The combination of the two therapies should help you resolve your injury more quickly, and is only an option. Mark also feels that the soft tissue work and massage is important prior to any manipulation being performed. The best of both worlds! |
